It was a proud evening for the team at Woodcock & Wilson as we were named winners of not one, but two prestigious honours at the 10th SHAPA Solids Handling Industry Awards taking home both the Innovation in Safety Award and the Export Award.
Hosted annually by the Solids Handling and Processing Association (SHAPA), the awards are a benchmark for excellence, with categories designed to recognise outstanding achievement in areas such as sustainability, technical development, export performance and safety. The awards bring together some of the most respected names in the industry.
For Woodcock & Wilson, a long-standing SHAPA member, the evening marked a milestone in our ongoing mission to set the standard for safety and quality in industrial fan manufacturing.
Recognition for innovation in safety
Winning the Innovation in Safety Award acknowledges our long-standing belief that meeting the minimum isn’t enough, especially when lives and livelihoods depend on equipment that performs in the world’s most hazardous environments.
In a sector where ATEX self-certification remains widely used (and legally permissible), Woodcock & Wilson has taken a different approach. We are IECEx certified, independently tested, and offer fans aligned with the latest standards including EN ISO 80079-36, EN ISO 80079-37, and EN ISO 60079-0.
This commitment to rigorous safety and third-party verification is not just about compliance, it’s about accountability. It’s about leading by example, even if that means standing alone.
Export success built on quality and trust
The Export Award reflects the impact of this mindset on the global stage.
In just 18 months, Woodcock & Wilson has expanded into new international markets — supplying critical, safety-certified fan systems to clients across sectors including oil and gas, mining, carbon capture, and renewable energy.
Rather than pursuing growth at speed, we’ve built it on substance: engineering excellence, UK manufacturing, trusted documentation, and world-class service. From bespoke product design to in-country technical support, we’ve taken British manufacturing values and delivered them globally.
“A reflection of who we are”
Speaking after the ceremony, Scott Harding, Sales Director, said:
“These awards are more than recognition; they’re a reflection of who we are as a business. To be acknowledged by SHAPA for both safety innovation and export success in the same year is a huge honour, and it belongs to the entire team. We’ve always believed that safety and integrity should drive everything we do, and it’s rewarding to see that approach making a real difference at home and overseas.”
What it means to be a SHAPA member
As members of SHAPA, Woodcock & Wilson are part of a collaborative community committed to advancing best practice in solids handling. From engaging with Ex safety committees to mentoring the next generation of engineers, we’re proud to be on the front line of safer, smarter fan manufacturing.
