Woodcock & Wilson Ltd is proud to announce that Scott Harding, Sales Director, has been officially welcomed into the British Standards Institution (BSI) community as a member of Committee EXL/23 – Explosion and Fire Precautions in Industrial and Chemical Plant.

The BSI community comprises more than 13,000 committee members, representing industry experts, manufacturers, and stakeholders who are dedicated to developing and maintaining safety and quality standards across the UK and internationally.

As a member of EXL/23, Scott will contribute his extensive industry knowledge and commercial insight into explosion protection and hazardous area safety to the development and refinement of standards that safeguard people, facilities, and equipment in industrial and chemical environments. The committee plays a crucial role in shaping standards related to explosion and fire prevention, ensuring best practice and regulatory compliance across multiple sectors.

“I’m honoured to join the BSI EXL/23 Committee and to take part in the wider international working groups under ISO and CEN,” said Scott Harding. “Standards play a vital role in protecting people and assets, and contributing to this process is both a professional privilege and a responsibility we take seriously at Woodcock & Wilson.”

In addition to his role on EXL/23, Scott also serves as a committee member for ISO/TC 67/SC 6/WG 11 – Petroleum and Natural Gas Industries: Offshore Production Installations – Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) and CEN/TC 305/WG 2 – Potentially Explosive Atmospheres: Explosion Prevention and Protection (EN14986).

These international and European working groups focus on bringing together safety and performance standards for explosion prevention, protection, and offshore HVAC systems, ensuring alignment across global regulatory frameworks.

Scott’s appointment reflects Woodcock & Wilson’s ongoing commitment to safety, engineering excellence, and leadership in Ex compliance. His participation across these committees provides an opportunity to collaborate with fellow experts, share practical experience from the field, and strengthen the link between standard development and real-world application.
