Woodcock & Wilson recently appointed a new Engineering Manager in experienced engineer Charles Halstead. Charles is an industry renowned and respected Fan expert, specialising in rotating machinery and their integration into process applications.
Charles has over 30 years industrial experience in Research and Development, engineering from first principles, specialist applications, technical sales, project management and contract negotiation both in the UK and Internationally with major international corporations & EPC contractors. He’s also a recognised & published expert in ATEX certified equipment.
Charles’ level of expertise in the industry lead to him becoming a well-respected member of CEN TC305 / WG02 (Equipment for use in potentially explosive atmospheres) and also BSI MCE/017, the committee responsible for drafting international ATEX fan specifications. Charles is also involved in the EcoDesign Directive relating to ErP’s (Energy related Products) set out by the European Union in a bid to decrease non-renewable energy consumption.
In addition to Charles involvement with various governing bodies, he is a regular speaker at both the IMechE International Fan Conference and the Hazardous EX Conference. Charles is a predominant member of the Fan Manufacturers Association and is often called upon by his peers for advice and contribution.
