One of the UK’s leading fan manufacturers has designed an industrial fan specifically for use in extreme, low temperature environments.

Huddersfield-based Woodcock & Wilson spent over four months developing the fan which has been designed specifically to keep operating efficiently even when temperatures are as low as minus 50 degrees Centigrade.

Four of these uniquely built fans have recently been shipped to the far reaches of Siberia and Canada, above the Arctic Circle, for use by companies involved in oil industry.

Woodcock & Wilson’s engineers used innovative methods to design and manufacture the fan using special low temperature steels, bearings and heat tracing casings. All elements were thoroughly analysed to offer a first class fan to sustain extreme low temperature.

Woodcock & Wilson’s Managing Director Mark Jones said: ‘It has been a challenging few months for our design engineers to develop and manufacture the fan which continues to work efficiently and effectively at such low temperatures. The project has further enhanced our reputation for manufacturing innovative fans and be at the forefront of customer’s requirements.’

Established for 35 years, Woodcock & Wilson manufacture both centrifugal and axial fan designs for an extensive range of applications including heating and ventilation, air pollution control, petro-chemical, offshore and process engineering.
